Step 1Warm up and lead in 

       1. Guess the topic of today by comparing the treasure of the world and China.

       2. Watch a video and then have a brainstorm.

Step 2Pre-reading 

Look at the pictures of the Chengdu Research Base and answer two questions. Why do people build the base? Why don\'t people let pandas go back to forests?

Step 3:While-reading

Task 1: skimming--Q1: What’s the main idea of each paragraph? Q2: What’s the purpose of the writer?

Task 2:careful readin-- Read Para 1 and 2 carefully and fill in the mind map. Feel the good relationship between baby pandas and keepers.

Task 3: scanning-- Read Para 3 and think: What do these numbers mean? 10;12;300;2000

Task 4:careful reading-- Read Para 3 again and and find out the reasons why there are fewer pandas.

Task 5:scanning and careful reading--Read Para 4 and answer the questions.

Q1: How many ways are mentioned in this paragraphQ2: Who are helping the pandas? Q3: What can people do?

Step 4:Post-reading

Task 6: Discuss and help (Group work )--As teenagers, let’s do something to protect them! Discuss in groups and design a slogan.Task 7: Communicate to better understand--Be endangered animals and humans to ask and answer questions by turns.

Step 5:Summary

Love makes a better world. Let’s care for the animals and live in harmony with them. Protecting animals is protecting ourselves.
